Background
I have helped form two successful businesses since 1976. First, a design and woodworking company focused on custom interior wood work and furniture. Second, a catalog company started in Fortuna in 1983 focused on sales of radio products that are higher performance than commonly found at your local store. We have also spent 10 years developing and selling white LED lighting products.
Experience/Expertise
At times we have sold more radios and flashlights from any single location than any other company. Most of the time I can spot market opportunities and fill them. We have started both companies with little capital. Product development and promotion are my specialties.
What I look for in a business plan
It is difficult to start any business. It is best to be in a venue as closely related to what "I really want to do" as possible. Having courage, faith and perseverance toward your endeavor is good. It is important to have a financially realistic business plan. Any previous track record is good. Does your plan have the ingredients to be an overnight success several years from now?
