The Humboldt County Office of Education is a dynamic county-wide organization that: |

Provides direct instruction to approximately 2,000 students enrolled in alternative education, special education, and workforce preparation programs. Offers training to educators in best practices. Coordinates and participates in cost-saving consortia, including legal services, employee health insurance, pupil transportation, business and instructional services. Conducts instructional support programs on a regional basis on behalf of the California Departments of Education and Health; and Establishes and maintains programs that contribute to the educational enrichment, health, safety, and well being of Humboldt County’s children, including the Rising Stars Foundation. |

The Humboldt County Office of Education has an administrative role in which we provide fiscal oversight and accountability monitoring of our county’s thirty-two school districts on behalf of the State of California. We also advocate for the needs of rural schools and students, and actively influence state and federal policy for the benefit of Humboldt County’s children. |

Humboldt Regional Occupational Program

The Humboldt Regional Occupational Program (HROP) provides tuition-free classes and on-the-job training to more than 1500 high school students and adults annually in Humboldt County. A blend of entry-level job skill training and skill upgrading classes for those who are already employed are offered in eleven different training areas in Humboldt County. Assistance in getting a job or continuing education at College of the Redwoods, Humboldt State University or other post-secondary institutions is also available.

Rising Stars Foundation

The Rising Stars Foundation was established by the Humboldt County Office of Education in 2006 to support educational enrichment activities for the youth in Humboldt County. Currently, the Foundation supports the Doris Niles Humboldt County Science Fair, Countywide Spelling Bee, the Gary Roberts Northcoast Industrial Technology Show and the Gifted and Talented Education Academy (GATE).
